has reached epidemic proportions in America. In fact, over
two thirds of US citizens are overweight; a frightening statistic
that continues to rise each year. Shown below is a representation
of these growing trends for the years 1991, 1996, and 2004

illustration translates into some alarming numbers. It has
been reported that 30% of adults over 20 years, that’s approximately
60 million people, in the U.S. are obese. This disease has
had an even harder impact locally; over 58% of New York adults
are overweight or obese(2).
